College of Nursing/Student Nurses Association.Pair of Badges
Two badges relating to nursing organisations.The first is a silver College of Nursing( Now the Royal College of Nursing)badge.Featuring the letters C and N in silver on a blue enamel background with the title The College of Nursing Founded MCMXVI (1916)around the rim.The Rose,Thistle,Leek and Shamrock emblems feature at each quarter.
To the rear it features the registration number of the design and the membership number 16688.These badges were first issued after 1920 .It is marked for Sterling Silver and makers marks J R Gaunt London.
Condition very good,with only minor surface scratches.Pin & clasp in good order.Height 38mm
The second is for the Student Nurses Association.Founded in 1925,the badge consists of a central roundel bearing a lamp of learning within a laurel wreath,overlaid upon a Maltese Cross.Two red roses representing England are on either side and the title.The blue enamel outer band carries the words Student Nurses Association. Condition good,pin and clasp intact.Makers mark for Toye & Co. Height 27mm

Ellen Ranyard "Bible Nurses" Badge
A Bronze pin back Nurses badge for the Ranyard District Nursing service based in London.Originally Founded by Ellen Ranyard( known as LNR) as a Bible Mission,it was expanded in 1868 to provide Biblewomen Nurses to deliver Nursing care to the poor in their own homes in deprived areas of London.These nurses received a short training at London Hospitals,They continued to provide district Nursing services until they were absorbed by the London Boroughs DNS in 1965.This badge is unissued and probably dates to the 1960s
It consists of a bronze Maltese cross with rope edging with the LNR motif of it's founder and bears the motto "Labore Est Orare Est"-To Work is to Pray.No Markers mark Pin,clasp & safety roller catch good.

Hillingdon Hospital ,Breakspear Nurse Education Division
A brass and enamel pendant badge from the Breakspear Nurse Education Division which was based at Hillingdon Hospital although it also included Harefield and Mount Vernon Hospitals during the 1980s and 1990s.Good overall condition with and safety clasp intact.Height 50mm.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Regent Street Birmingham

A Silver and enamel badge for the North Middlesex Hospital Training School for Nurses.It has unfortunately suffered enamel damage to the top and bottom as pictured but remains a nice badge for a collector until a perfect one turns up.Pin and catch intact.Engraved to M t Handley May 1953.Hallmark D&D for 1952 featuring Queens coronation head mark

A bronze "Moorfields"Cross featuring the intertwined initials of the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital.This design dates it to the late 1920s. It has however lost its plain bronze suspension bar and so is being offered as a starter piece.Height 42mm
