Ellen Ranyard"Bible Nurses" badge
A Bronze pin back Nurses badge for the Ranyard District Nursing service based in London.Originally Founded by Ellen Ranyard( known as LNR) as a Bible Mission,it was expanded in 1868 to provide Biblewomen Nurses to deliver Nursing care to the poor in their own homes in deprived areas of London.These nurses received a short training at London Hospitals,They continued to provide district Nursing services until they were absorbed by the London Boroughs DNS in 1965.This badge is unissued and probably dates to the 1960s
It consists of a bronze Maltese cross with rope edging with the LNR motif of it's founder and bears the motto "Labore Est Orare Est"-To Work is to Pray.No Markers mark Pin,clasp & safety roller catch good.

Silver Community Nursing Badge
A silver and enamelled Community Nursing badge for an as yet unidentified organisation( I was told that it might be for Macmillan Nurses but am unable to confirm this).It features a pair of hands supporting a house divided into two halves with a moon and sun for Night and Day care .The latin motto "In Civium Domibus,Salus Civitatis"-In the Houses of the People,the Health of the state. In good overall condition with minimal surface scratches.Pin and clasp good.Silver hallmarks for WA Birmingham 1957.Height 33mm

Queen Victorias Jubilee Institute for Nurses,H.M.Queen Alexandra's Committee,Silver gilt medal
A silver gilt and enamel medal for Queen Alexandra's Committee of the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nurses.The face of this silver gilt oval medal features a mother embracing her child.This is topped by the two intertwined A's of Queen Alexandra below an imperial crown in white and red enamel,There is slight enamel loss to the top left but otherwise wear is minimal.The reverse features a split shield below an Imperial crown.In one half are the monogram initials of Queen Victoria,in the other those of Queen Alexandra.It bears hallmarks for T&S (Toye & Spencer) London 1914.It is missing it's suspension ribbon but still a scarce item

Kent Nursing Institution,District Nurses medal
A bronze metal medal for the Kent Nursing Institute which provided trained nurses for the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nurses.Already well established by the 1890s it provided nurses,mostly for private cases, in the district and This badge dates to around this time.The badge is made of bronze metal consists of a Maltese Cross with central disc showing the figure of John the Baptist carrying a lamb.Around this is written" I Will Fear No Evil For Thou Art With Me".The reverse bears "In Recognition Of Devoted Service Emma Elizabeth Millar In Nursing The Sick.(This lady is listed in Burdett's Official Nursing Directory of 1898.She is shown as being a Private Nurse for the Institution at West Malling,having trained at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh and having worked at Hollingbourne Infectious Hospital near Maidstone.) Height 47mm

Brighton District Nursing Association,Nurses Badge
A base metal and enamel badge for the Brighton,Hove & Preston District Nursing Association.It was affiliated to the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nurses and supplied Nurses for District Nursing.The badge features the Brighton Pavilion on a green lawn above the waves of the sea. Brighton District Nursing Association appears in Silver on red enamel around the edge.Condition very good,pin and clasp in good order.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Regent St Birmingham.Height 32mm

Leeds Nurses Home,Silver Nurses medal
A silver long service medal for the Early district Nursing service in Leeds.It consists of a cross patonce with 6 Years to the centre.A circular band with Leeds Nurses Home overlays this.The whole thing is suspended from a ring which I assume might have been attached to a ribbon? The rear is engraved for Annie Smalley,May 13 1895 to 1901.Hallmarked for HB Birmingham 1900.This may be the same Annie Smalley who later appears on the GNC Register in 1924 having trained at the Victoria Hospital Keighley from 1895 ? Height 38mm
