Limerick Regional Hospital School of Nursing,silver gilt Nurses badgeA superb silver gilt and enamel Nurses badge for the Limerick Regional Hospital School of Nursing.The unusual design consists of a patonce cross which is mostly covered by a circular badge upon which is a central crest topped with Mercy.( This is I believe a Catholic religious motif) the motto Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam-To the Greater Glory of God is also used by the Jesuits.In good clean condition.Pin ,clasp and safety roller catch are all good,safety chain in situ.Silver hallmarks for Dublin 1994.Makers LB -Lee Brothers.Height 35mm
Rotunda Hospital Dublin,Midwifery BadgeA large bronze pinback badge awarded for Midwifery Training at the Rotunda Hospital Dublin.This particular type of badge was first issued in 1916, then manufactured by John Smyth & Sons Ltd of Wicklow Street, Dublin. The central roundel represents the female personification of Charity with two small children. It was adapted for the badge from an original plaster panel that can still be seen in the hospitalís chapel. This motif together with the titles forms the Rotunda hospital crest. The letters B and M acknowledge the hospitalís founder, Bartholomew Mosse (1712Ė1759).
Good condition with pin and clasp intact.Stamped to rear is the number 582 and the motto "To Do my Duty" height 49mm

Worn Makers mark to the rear of Thomas Fattorini, Hockley St Birmingham.Engraved for E.Anderson A 672 2.10.24 E 74 8.10.25. This is Elizabeth Anderson who is recorded in the Register as having gained her certificate 1921-25 at Belfast Infirmary,including 12 months training in Purdysburn Fever Hospital,Belfast.Thus she is registered under schedule A,General Nursing and schedule E ,Fever Nursing.A nice early dual trained Northern Irish nurse.Hallmarked for 1925.Height 26mm
