Rotunda Hospital Dublin,Midwifery Badge
A large bronze pinback badge awarded for Midwifery Training at the Rotunda Hospital Dublin.This particular type of badge was first issued in 1916, then manufactured by John Smyth & Sons Ltd of Wicklow Street, Dublin. The central roundel represents the female personification of Charity with two small children. It was adapted for the badge from an original plaster panel that can still be seen in the hospitalís chapel. This motif together with the titles forms the Rotunda hospital crest. The letters B and M acknowledge the hospitalís founder, Bartholomew Mosse (1712Ė1759).
Good condition with pin and clasp intact.Stamped to rear is the number 582 and the motto "To Do my Duty" height 49mm

Joint Nursing & Midwives Council Northern Ireland,Silver Nurses Badge
An early silver and enamel Nurses Registration badge for the Joint Nursing and Midwives Council of Northern Ireland.The design features a shield bearing the red cross of St George on a yellow background.Superimposed on this is a smaller silver shield bearing the Red hand of Ulster.Above the main shield is an Imperial crown.Around the edge ,on a green band are the words;Joint Nursing & Midwives Council/Northern Ireland.There are some small chips and wear to the green enamel at the rim with several surface scratches.Pin and clasp intact. Worn Makers mark to the rear of Thomas Fattorini, Hockley St Birmingham.Engraved for E.Anderson A 672 2.10.24 E 74 8.10.25. This is Elizabeth Anderson who is recorded in the Register as having gained her certificate 1921-25 at Belfast Infirmary,including 12 months training in Purdysburn Fever Hospital,Belfast.Thus she is registered under schedule A,General Nursing and schedule E ,Fever Nursing.A nice early dual trained Northern Irish nurse.Hallmarked for 1925.Height 26mm

Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast,Silver Nurses Badge
A nice silver and enamel nurses badge from the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast.An oval badge with a central design showing a lit nurses lamp of learning with stylised beams of light on a green enamel background.The title is around the edge with an imperial crown at the top and shamrocks at the other three quarters.In very good condition with only one minor blemish to the enamel near to the flame.The pin has been professionally replaced and the clasp and safety roller catch are good.Silver hallmarks for Thomas Fattorini Birmingham 1969.Height 42mm
