Royal Eastern Counties Hospital-Percy Garrad set

An interesting group of badges and medals relating to Percy Garrad From Colchester and his military and nursing service in both World Wars.
The first two items are a War and a Victory Medal issued to 146880 Gunner Gerrad(sic) Royal Artillery.With these comes a letter from his commanding officer to his mother in Colchester informing her of his probable capture by the Germans in November 1917.The Regimental history of the 32nd Siege battery notes that several soldiers were captured at that time.
We then have a series of 4 badges,One is a silver and enamel buttonhole badge for the Royal Eastern Counties Hospital,height 32mm.Engraved to the rear Percy Garrad 11.1.15 but hallmarked for 1928.The second smaller clover leaf badge for RECH is hallmarked for 1956.These come with a Royal Medico Psychological Association medal with ribbon named to P Garrad. Lastly comes a silver red and white enamel RMPA Mental Deficiency Certified Nurse badge,this being named to P Garrad 4649.The hallmark dates this to 1944.
The last items are a pair of 1939-45 War and Defence medals along with a Royal Observer Corps badge and an RAF wings sweetheart pin.The last badge with the lot is unidentified and consists of an elephant pendant badge.
The Whole group is worthy of further research for what looks like a fascinating man!
