Early Richmond Nursing Institute Pin Badge

A nice bronze and enamel badge for the Richmond Nursing Institute.It features the crest of Richmond within a thin metal oval hanging from a suspension bar with ribbon.The fixing is an unusual straight pin,although it looks as though there may have been a brooch fixing originally the the badge itself,although this has been removed.The original ribbon is very worn but intact.
These Nursing Institutes were the local bases for the work of the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nursing and provided District Nursing for a given area.
