Dreadnought School of Nursing Tilbury Hospital
A rare early badge for the Dreadnaught School of Nursing,part of the Seamen's Hospital Society.Originally the SHS operated from the moored hulks of old Naval ships prior to moving to the Royal Hospital Greenwich in 1870.In 1877 the SHS set up a School of Nursing founded upon Nightingale lines and this badge dates to the 1930s. It bears the image of the original hospital ship and the motto Fidelis,Veritas,Sacrificia- Faithful,Truth,Sacrifice.Pin and clasp fixing with brass safety chain.Engraved Tilbury Hospital Miss M Clouting 1931-34 Makers mark G T West
