Little Plumstead Hospital near Norwich Early Nurses Badge
A small Chrome and enamel badge from Little Plumstead Learning Disabilities Hospital on the outskirts of Norwich.Opened as a Colony for Mental Defectives in 1930 it finally closed in the 1990s and much of the site is now derelict awaiting redevelopment.
This badge is ,I believe, the version awarded for RNMD training at the hospital in the 1940s or 50s.A different design is attributable to the late 60s and the hospital was later amalgamated into the Broadlands School of Nursing.
This Star of David design is in good condition with a crescent buttonhole back fitting as worn by Male Nurses. It carries Makers marks for the B'Ham Medal & Badge Comp. Albion Street Birmingham.Height 27mm
