Western Infirmary of Glasgow,Doctor John Morton Medal for Surgical Nursing

An extremely rare Prize medal from the Western Infirmary of Glasgow. The Doctor John Morton medal was awarded for the nurse with the Highest marks in Surgical Nursing.Dr Morton who died in 1920 had been a notable surgeon in Glasgow .
The medal is of a pendant design suspended from a plain bar brooch with pin and clasp fixing,in good order. The face of the medal bears a Rod of Asclepius with a mortar & pestle and surgical tools. The rear is marked for the recipient Margaret Jean MacIntyre 1951.There are no hallmarks or makers marks anywhere on the badge ,and whilst the badge has the appearance of gold I am unable to confirm this without further testing(which may damage the medal) Height 42mm
