Myddelton Square Hospital,Finsbury,London Midwives Badge

Founded in 1896,originally called the Myddelton Square Maternity Nursing Association,The hospital had by 1929 become affiliated with the Royal Northern Hospital.This bronze badge,like many midwifery badges, was worn suspended on a chord around the neck and this one retains this original chord.The face of the medal shows the Virgin Mary in an attitude of prayer.Around the edge are the words Maternity Nursing Association and the motto Caritas Christi Urget Nos(The Charity of Christ Urges Us).
In very good condition overall but with slight surface rubbing as pictured.A nice heavy and original midwifery badge.Height 52mm.
