Putney Hospital Silver Nurses badge.
A silver and enamel Nurses badge from Putney Hospital.The badge takes the form of a Triangular Pattee cross medal worn from a ribbon with a pin back suspension bar bearing the Hospital title.
The arms of the medal and the ribbon are in light and dark blue reflecting the colours of Oxford and Cambridge University,and the famous Varsity Boat Race held annually on the nearby River Thames.The centre shows a stylised view of the Hospital around which is a motto VULNERA CURABAM SED DEUS SANAVIT- WE NURSED HIM,GOD HEALED HIM. First presented in 1945 ,the badge was discontinued in 1970.
In Good condition.Enamel intact although with some surface scratches.Pin and clasp good.Engraved for Violet E Bardwell and hallmarked for Thomas Fattorini ,year letter 1964.Total height with ribbon 65mm,Badge to suspension wrong 40mm
