Northowram Hall Hospital,Halifax Silver nurses badge
A scarce silver and enamel Nurses badge from Northowram Hall Hospital Halifax.Built originally as an Isolation Hospital and later used for the treatment of Tuberculosis patients.A new geriatric hospital was built in 1971 and this finally closed in 2001 when the hospital merged with the new Calderdale Royal Hospital.This badge features the four emblems of the UK,namely Thistle,Rose,Shamrock and Daffodil & leek.Over these is imposed a rod of Asclepius.Generally very good condition with only minor surface scratches and one small chip by the O of North.Pin,clasp and safely roller catch all good.Engraved To Noel McGurk Nov.1961.Hallmarks for TJS ( Thomas James Skelton) Chester 1958.Height 32mm
