The South London Hospital for Women & Children,GNC Pair of Nursing Badges
Located on the South side of Clapham Common,this hospital was at one time totally staffed by women,other than one Engineer and a Gardener ! It joined the NHS in 1948 as part of the Lambeth Group of Hospitals but eventually closed in 1984.The badges consist of a brass and enamelled hospital badge bearing the letters SLHW and the motto ET DATO GAUDETIS-Delight in Giving.Slight enamel loss as pictured.Engraved to rear Phyllis J Spencer October 1958 ,makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham.Height 22mm width 30mm
The second is a chrome plated General Nursing Council for England & Wales badge.This is engraved to the rear P J Spencer SRN 265484 1.12.58.Pin and clasp good and safety chain in situ.Height 27mm
