Battersea General Hospital Silver Nurses Badge
A silver nurses pendant badge for Battersea General Hospital. Originally founded as the National Anti-Vivisection Hospital in 1896.See;http://ezitis.myzen.co.uk/battersea.html.It combined with the Hospital of St Francis,Camberwell Green ,another Anti-Vivisection Hospital which had closed in 1904.The medal features a figure of St Francis in a group of trees surrounded by birds. This is suspended from an ornate pin back bar bearing the Hospital title.Condition Good,although it has suffered a couple of dents to the edge.pin and clasp intact.Medal engraved to M.Tobin,June 1953.Marked Silver to medal and suspension bar.Height 42mm
