Lewisham Hospital School of Nursing Silver Nurses Badge
A pristeen example of a nurses training school badge from Lewisham Hospital,one of a number of similar badges I am listing from my private collection.They all feature the central design of the Stag's head from the Earl of dartmouth,holders of the Manor of Lewisham,complete with 5 pointed star taken from the arms of the Borough. Across the Antlers is tied a twisted wreath with a raven,alluding to the local river the Revensbourne,In its mouth the stag holds the rod of Asclepius.The three original training hospitals in the group were Lewisham,Grove Park & Hither Green & St John's.
This badge is for the Lewisham School of Nursing and is in excellent condition,pin and clasp in good order.Hallmarked for Thomas Fattorini for 1977. Height 34mm
