St John's Hospital Battersea,Silver Nurses badge
A silver and enamelled nurses badge from St John's Hospital,Battersea.Originally the Wandsworth and Clapham Union Infirmary,it changed it's name to St John's in 1930 when it came under the control of the LCC.The design is taken from the early arms of the Borough showing a shield in blue and silver topped by a dove bearing an olive branch. This is surrounded by the Hospital title on a green enamel circle upon a Rose design similar to the General Nursing Council badge.Pin clasp and safety roller catch all in good condition.Named to B.T.Ryan with Birmingham hallmarks for Fattorini & Sons and year letter for 1950.Another scarce badge from my private collection.Height 28mm
