Whips Cross Hospital,Nurses Badge

A chrome and enamel badge for Whipps Cross Hospital.Opened as the West Ham Union Infirmary in 1903,it was approved as a Nurse Training School in 1921.This badge features a white enamel cross with a central shield upon which are the initials WCH.Around the rim is an outer blue enamel circle which bears the Hospital title and the motto Semper Ad Coelum-Always Aim High.The rear bears makers marks for Fattorini & Sons Ld,Bradford Works,Birmingham which date this to 1945-54. Some surface scratches and minor enamel chips to the rim.Pin and clasp good.Height 32mm
