Evelina Hospital for Sick Children,Silver Nurses Badge
A scarce silver nurses badge from the Evalina Hospital for Sick Children in Southwark Bridge road.Founded in 1869,it was endowed by Baron Ferdinand De Rothschild after the death of his wife and son in premature labour.After 1948 it joined the new NHS as part of the Guys's Hospital Group before it's eventual closure in 1976.This badge,which dates to 1940 features a nurse from the hospital with her distinctive cap,with an infant.Good condition with minimal surface scratches.Pin and clasp good.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Limited Birmingham.Hallmarks for Birmingham 1940.Height 34mm
