St Andrew's Hospital Nursing,Silver Nurses Badge
A scarce Silver nurses badge from St Andrew's Hospital,Devon's Road,Bromley By Bow.Originally the Poplar & Stepney Sick Asylum it was renamed St Andrews Hospital in 1920.It was transferred to the Metropolitan Asylum Board in 1925 and then taken over by the London County Council in 1933.This badge dates to the period it was under the MAB.It consists of a silver and black enamel cross pattee,with three central shields.It has a considerable number of surface scratches and enamel damage to the upper arm of the cross.The rear is engraved December 1931 Hilda Atkinson.Makers mark for Fattorini & Sons,Bradford House Birmingham,hallmarked for 1931.Height 30mm
