The Belmont Hospital,Sutton,RMN Nursing badge
A large silvered and enamel badge from the Belmont Psychiatric hospital.Originally the buildings were established as an Orphanage,then a workhouse,and used also a Prisoner of war camp in the First World War.It became an Emergency Hospital during WW2 and then in 1946 was renamed as the Belmont Hospital,for the treatment of General Psychiatric conditions and Neuroses.It finally closed in the mid 1970s.
This impressive badge features the Hospital Buildings in relief to the centre of a large blue enamel Mission Cross.Some signs of Surface wear but overall good condition.Pin and clasp good,unmarked to rear.height 43mm
