Putney Hospital Silver Nurses badge.
A silver and enamel Nurses badge from Putney Hospital.The badge takes the form of a Triangular Pattee cross medal worn from a ribbon with a pin back suspension bar bearing the Hospital title.
The arms of the medal and the ribbon are in light and dark blue reflecting the colours of Oxford and Cambridge University,and the famous Varsity Boat Race held annually on the nearby River Thames.The centre shows a stylised view of the Hospital around which is a motto VULNERA CURABAM SED DEUS SANAVIT- WE NURSED HIM,GOD HEALED HIM. First presented in 1945 ,the badge was discontinued in 1970.
In Good overall condition.Enamel intact although with some surface scratches and one small ding to one corner.Pin and clasp good,Ribbon worn and showing signs of age.Engraved for Margaret E Cameron 1944-1948 and marked for Silver.Total height with ribbon 93mm,Badge to suspension ring 32mm
