A superb large silver Pendant Medal for the Nurse Training School of the St George's in the East Infirmary.Opened in 1871 as the Infirmary for the St George in the East Workhouse,in Wapping.The hospital had opened a Nurse Training school in 1893 and this medal was awarded in 1907.The pendant medal is suspended from a pin back brooch bearing the motto Fide Et Dextere- Faithfully and Skilfully. The medal bears the image of St George slaying the Dragon (after Pistrucci).The reverse is engraved for Mary Broadhurst 20th June 1907.Hallmarked for Mapping & Webb Birmingham 1907.In it's original velvet lined case which has lost its fixing hinge and is rather worn.Height 67mm
