A bronze metal medal for the Kent Nursing Institute which provided trained nurses for the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nurses.Already well established by the 1890s it provided nurses,mostly for private cases, in the district and This badge dates to around this time.The badge is made of bronze metal consists of a Maltese Cross with central disc showing the figure of John the Baptist carrying a lamb.Around this is written" I Will Fear No Evil For Thou Art With Me".The reverse bears "In Recognition Of Devoted Service Emma Elizabeth Millar In Nursing The Sick.(This lady is listed in Burdett's Official Nursing Directory of 1898.She is shown as being a Private Nurse for the Institution at West Malling,having trained at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh and having worked at Hollingbourne Infectious Hospital near Maidstone.)
