Glasgow Eye Infirmary,Silver Nurses Badge

A Silver and enamel Nurses badge for the Glasgow Eye Infirmary.It consists of two squares one over the other with a blue enamel cross forming the corners.In the central square is a shield between two rods of Asclepius.This bears what appears to be an eye emitting rays of light.Above the shield is a Lamp of Learning and on either side are two thistles,the emblem of Scotland.Below the shield is a scroll with the date 1824 ,the date the Infirmary was founded.Condition is very good barring some surface scratches.Pin and clasp good.Engraved to rear S.E.N. Barbara M.MacLeod 31.10.67 No.9777 Silver Hallmarks for John Pinches London 1964.Height 38mm.The badge was discontinues after 1971 when the infirmary merged with Gartnavel General Hospital.
