Association for Promoting the Training And Supply of Midwives,Silver Midwives' badge

A rare silver midwives' badge for the Association of Training and Supply of Midwives.Founded in 1904 it awarded badges and certificates to midwives undertaking their training which were linked with charities in Plaistow, and hospitals in London,Cheltenham and Glasgow.Consisting of a silver Maltese cross with Love,Mercy,Pity & Truth to each of the four arms.Condition is good with minor surface scratching.The pin and clasp are good.The rear bears the marks Assocn. Training Supply Midwives and is engraved Awarded to Helen Springfield 1920.This lady is shown on the Midwives Roll as residing in Brixton London before periods in Edmonton North London,Wolverhampton and Kent.She was still on the roll in 1951,living in Hythe Kent.
