Silver(Aladdin's) Lamp of Learning

A lovely solid silver Aladdin style lamp,also known as the Lamp of Learning. A smaller version of the type of Lamp used in the annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service at Westminster Abbey.In America many schools hold a Lamp Of Learning ceremony and small china versions are given as graduation gifts.
The lamp itself is 110mm long and 50mm high and weighs 110gms. It has a removable finial and could have oil and a wick added to take a flame if required. The item carries an American Hallmark which reads Barton Silver ( it is rubbed and is likely to be Reed and Barton a noted Massachusetts silversmith) but I am unable to read the year symbol.Excellent condition barring one small knock to the foot rim which is barely visible.
