A base metal and enamel nurses badge from the Royal Alexandra Infirmary Paisley.The shield shaped badge features the intertwined initials RAI,this is above 1768,(however the year of the hospitals foundation appears to be 1788 so perhaps an error-on other badges this date is 1786?)At the top is the coat of arms of Paisley depicting an abbot below a mural crown.The biblical inscription"They Bought unto Him the Sick & He Healed Them" appears on a scroll along the top edge.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Ltd,Regent Street Birmingham to the rear.Pin and clasp good.height 32mm
