Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service,Silver Tippet Badge
A scarce silver tippet/cape medal for the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service,the forerunner of todays QARANC.
The open work design features the Danish Dannebrog cross with an A for Alexandra in the centre.Around the edge is the title.This is topped by the Imperial Crown .This would have been worn suspended from a red,white and blue silk ribbon,which is missing but it should be possible to have this remounted.
This pattern of badge was in use from 1902 until 1949,issued in silver for Sisters and bronze for Staff Nurses.
In very good clean condition.Hallmarked for makers Vaughtons & Sons,Birmingham 1942.Height of medal to suspension ring 53mm.
