North Ormsby Hospital Middlesborough,Nurses Badge

An early bronze and enamel Pendant badge for the North Ormesby Hospital Middlesborough. I believe this design predates the creation of the NHS in 1948.It consists of a bronze disc with a central Christian cross bearing a scroll with the date 1858,when the hospital was founded following an explosion of a boiler at a local Ironworks.The hospital title is on a blue enamel band around the rim.This medal is suspended from plain pin back bar brooch.Condition is good with pin and clasp intact .Unmarked to rear.Height 46mm
