London County Council St Alfege's Hospital,Silver Nurses Badge
Yet another of the the popular London County Council Hospital Nurses badges issued between 1930 and 1948.This one is for St Alfege's Hospital.Originally the Greenwich & Deptford Workhouse and Infirmary,it was renamed in 1931 after it came under the control of the LCC.
The badge features the blue enamelled cross with central shield bearing the LCC crest, this one on a silver background. There is minor damage to the arms of the cross, particularly a chip to the right and lower arms. The crest is good. The pin and safety roller catch are both good.Silver hallmarks for Fattorini & Sons,Birmingham 1931.There is a name scratched onto the back which appears to be G Knox(I have not been able to find her in the GNC registers)
