Prudhoe & Monkton Hospital,Silver nurses badge

A scarce silver and enamel nurses badge for the Prudhoe & Monkton Hospital in Northumberland.Originally Prudhoe Hall Colony for Mental Defectives,it was a large Learning Disabilities Hospital in Northumberland.It linked with Monkton Hospital Jarrow in 1948 so this badge dates to after that time.The oval badge features a shepherd with lamb in silver on a blue enamel background,.The hospital title and motto Semper Fidelio-Always Faithful appear on a red band to the edge.Excellent condition throughout, pin,clasp and safety roller catch are all good.Marked silver to rear.I believe this badge dates to the 1950s.
