Medico-Psychological Association,Silver Prize Medal,Glamorgan County Asylum

An early rare silver prize medal for Proficiency in Mental Nursing,awarded by the Glamorgan County Asylum Committee.The county asylum consisted of Angleton and Parc Gwylit (and later Morgannwg) near Bridgend,these hospitals closed in the 1990s.
The medal would have been awarded to the top finalists for success in the examination of the MPA.The medal consists of a Maltese cross featuring a Welsh Dragon to the centre with oak leaves and acorns to each of the arms.This hang from a narrow dark silk ribbon which is suspended from a plain bar brooch.
The reverse is engraved to John Thomas 1902.It bears silver hallmarks for S.B.&S.Ltd. Birmingham 1902.Height 34mm
