Opened in 1913 as a Maternity hospital for poor and unmarried mothers, originally all the sisters and Matron were members of the Salvation Army.It became part of the NHS in 1948 and the services were eventually moved to the Homerton Hospital in 1986.This badge probably dates to the 1970s.The base metal and enamel badge features a red maltese cross with the emblem of the Salvation Army on a blue disc to the centre.The hospital title appears on a dark blue band around the rim.Condition is good with pin and clasp good.Unmarked to the rear.Height 29mm
