UK Nursing & Midwifery Association,Honorary Members Badge
The UKNMA was an independent organisation set up in 2000 to cater to the demand amongst many for a badge to reflect their qualification.
With the demise of the general nursing council in 1983, the decision was made by the UKCC, it's successor body, not to issue an equivalent Hygeia type badge. To meet this demand a number of different private bodies issued a certificated badge upon registration and payment.
The design was based upon the figure of Hygeia topped by the lamp of learning and knowledge. The usual version was a red cross but a blue pendant version was produced for Honorary members. These were intended to honour nurses or midwives making an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the Profession. This is one of those but is unnamed so possibly not issued.
