Warlingham Park Hospital,Mental Nurses Badge

An enamelled nurses badge for RMN Training at the Warlingham Park Hospital in Surrey.Originally opened as the Croydon Mental Hospital in 1903 it finally closed in 1999.
The badge features a stylised tree with seven branches and 16 leaves but I don't know the significance of those numbers?
In very good condition with pin and clasp good.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent street Birmingham.The badge most probably dates to the early 1960s. Height 28mm
