Knowle Hospital PTS Fareham Hampshire,Mental Nurses badge

A chrome and enamel Mental Nurses badge from Knowle Hospital, one of 3 different variants of those awarded.The Hampshire County Lunatic Asylum opened in 1852 at Fareham and eventually closed in 1996.The badge bears a shield with the three roses of Hampshire topped by a nurses lamp of learning.This is edged by a blue enamel garter belt upon which is Known Hospital Preliminary Training School.In good condition with pin and clasp good.safety chain in situ.Makers marks for Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham (dating this to pre 1961).Height 35mm
