City of Bristol Asylum,Silver MPA Prize Medal

A rare silver prize medal for Proficiency In Mental Nursing awarded by the City of Bristol Asylum.The design of the cross replicates that of the Medico Psychological Association under whose auspices early Mental Nurse Training in the UK was regulated.In this case the figure of Psyche has been replaced by the arms of the City of Bristol.The medal is suspended from a black and white striped Silk ribbon(in a rather distressed condition) The medal itself is in very good condition.Named to the rear Hilda Guard May 1911.Silver hallmarks for V&S (Vaughton & Son) Birmingham 1911.Height 40mm (with ribbon 76mm)
