A rare Bronze medal pendant badge for the Jewish Maternity Hospital, located in London's Whitechapel district.Originally founded as the Sick Room Help Society to promote Maternal welfare in the Jewish east end.The Home opened in 1911 in Underwood Road Whitechapel and had a Midwifery training school attached to it.It continued to expand before being renamed as the Bearsted Memorial Hospital in the late 1920s prior to being relocated to Stoke Newington after WW2.I believe this badge dates to the 1920s.
It features a pin back suspension bar with the title Jewish Maternity Home.Below this is a Star of David above a lozenge shape badge upon which is the Jewish tree of life above Hebrew writing.Around the edge is the phrase Sick Room Helps Society. Condition is good, marked to rear JM.Height 56mm
