A scarce base metal and enamel Mental Nurses Badge for the St Andrew's Hospital Thorpe in Norwich.The Hospital opened as the Norfolk County Asylum in 1814 and finally closed in 1998, today being used a luxury apartments.The badge features a shield with a St Andrew's Cross within a blue enamel border with the hospitals title and year of foundation.The whole is bordered by a wreathe of laurel leaves. Condition is good with no enamel loss.To the rear it has a button hole fixing as issued to male nurses.Makers mark for J Pinches London.Height 27mm
