A brass and enamel badge for the Incorporated Society of Trained Masseuses.Founded in 1894 and incorporated in 1900,the organisation went on to become the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
The lozenge shape badge features the initials ISTM within a blue enamel border bearing the organisation title and the dates 1894 and 1900.Below this is a red ribbon with the motto Digna Sequens- Following Worthy Things
Condition is good but with some surface scratches and minor enamel chips.Pin is intact.Makers mark for Barnard Rd No.655845 Engraved 1823 Gwendolen M U Wigston. This is Gwendolyn Mary Ursula Wigston of North Pickenham Swaffham Norfolk who shows as having gained her certificate in Medical Electricity in June 1919. A scarce early physiotherapy badge rarely seen nowadays.Height 40mm
