Royal College of Midwives, post 1947 badge
A members badge for the Royal College of Midwives.Founded as the Midwives Institute in 1881 it became the College of Midwives in 1941 and the RCM in 1947 after gaining it's Royal Charter.This pattern of badge was in use from then until 1967 when the design changed again.This design features the Pomegranate tree from the College arms, known as a symbol of fertility. This is above the date 1881 and a scroll of dark blue with Vita Donut Dei-Life is the Gift of God. Condition is good but with some signs of wear and minor rust to the back.Pin and clasp good.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham Height 34mm
