Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary,Nurses Badge

A lovely brass and enamel Nurses badge from the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.The central disc bears an image of St Michael ,the patron saint of the Burgh, with the motto A Lore Burn(to the lower Burn) .This is taken from the town seal.Condition is generally very good with only one small chip to the enamel at the edge between the I and E of Dumfries.Some minor surface scratches.Pin and clasp good with an old style safety clip.To either side is a thistle with leaves, in brass.I believe this pattern dates to the 1930s or 40s.Unmarked to the rear.Height 21mm width 36mm
