Charing Cross Hospital,Nurses Badge (pre 1973)
Still one of the most distinctive of the London Hospitals Nurses badges is the medal of the Charing Cross Hospital,worn at the throat on its ribbon.This is a clean example consisting of a Brass eight pointed Maltese cross with balls to the tips,all present and Fleur de Lys voided at the corners.It is named to the rear H E/G Humphrey( This lady appears to be Helen Edith Humphrey having trained from 1944-1947, recorded on the GNC Register , for 1947).With original silk ribbon in good condition although dirty, the suspension bar brooch pin is good.Height with ribbon 105mm, height of medal and suspension ring 46mm.Always a popular piece of Nursing History
