Napsbury Hospital,St Albans .Mental Nurses Badge.

A chromed metal and enamel badge from the Napsbury Hospital at London Colney in Hertfordshire.Opened in 1905 as the Middlesex County Asylum it closed in 1998 and the site has been redeveloped for residential use. The Badge features a white Geneva cross with a Hart at the centre.This stands in front of the emblem of Middlesex, three seaxes topped by a Saxon crown. Under this is an enamelled bar bearing Napsbury Hospital.Condition is generally good with only minor enamel damage by the HO of hospital.The rear is unmarked and has a button hole fixing for male nurses.Height 34mm
