Voluntary Medical Service Medal

A medal awarded by the British Red Cross and St Andrew's First Aid for efficient service as a First Aid Volunteer with either organisation. The qualifying period is fifteen years of service. The medal was designed by Percy Metcalfe and features an image of Florence Nightingale holding a lamp. The reverse bears a combination of the Geneva and St Andrews Crosses with Long And Efficient Service appearing near the edge. The rim is named for Miss Edith M Hunt. With original ribbon.I believe this may be one of the earlier silver medals but am unable to confirm this and it may be a silver plated version
