Central Midwives Board For Scotland,Midwives Badge
This pendant badge was awarded by the Central Midwives Board For Scotland,originally in a red enamelled finish but from the 1940s in this blue enamel version.The design was changed in 1962 but this pattern of badge was issued for all qualifying midwives between this period.it consists of a Thistle ,the symbol for Scotland with a blue enamel border.The suspension bar bears the title Certified Midwife.In silver plated metal,this badge retains much of its original finish however there are signs of wear to the suspension bar.Pin and clasp good ,with a suspension ring for a safety chain if required.Engraved to the rear 19010 H M Mac Kintosh 4.2.49 with maker mark for K&S Edin.(Kenning & Spencer)Height 42mm
