Scottish Women's Hospital,1914-19
A rare original brass and enamel badge for the Scottish Women's Hospital.Founded by Dr Elsie Inglis, secretary for the Scottish Federation of Suffrage Societies, it consisted of volunteer all women units who set up Hospitals in France,Serbia,Salonika and Russia. Over 1000 women from different countries served with SWH over the course of the war and their efforts saved countless lives.The pin back lapel badge bears a Scottish Thistle with two red banners with France and Serbia.Around the edge is Scottish Womens Hospital 1914-19.Condition is generally good although there is enamel damage to the edges particularly to the IS of Scottish.Pin and clasp intact, unmarked to rear.Height 29mm
