A silver and enamel Nurses badge for the Heritage Hospitals Chailey. Originally titled 'The Heritage Craft Schools and Hospitals for Crippled Children', the charity began in 1903 in East Sussex.Part of it served as the Princess Louise Special Military Hospital during the first war.An independent nurse training school for Orthopaedic nursing was proposed in 1948 when the hospital joined the NHS but eventually the Hospital had to become a centre within the Mid Sussex HMG. This badge features Saint Martin of Tours which is using his sword to cut his cloak in two to cloth a beggar.It bears the motto Hic Est Vere Fratrum Amator- This one loves his brothers.Condition is very good with pin and clasp intact.Makers mark for Thomas Fattorini Limited Birmingham.Silver hallmarks for TF Birmingham 1966.Height 32mm
