A scarce brass and enamel badge for the Hoylake West Kirby & District Nurseries and Babies Hospital.This one is in blue enamel on brass and bears the image of the Mariners Beacon at West Kirby,the lighthouse at Hoylake and a shipping navigation beacon at Crosby.The establishment was set up as a convalescent home for the sick and debilitated children of Liverpool,who might benefit from the fresh air and good nutrition and care provided there.A school was attached to the home and was one of the first to offer specific education for the physically disabled.
