Associate Royal Red Cross, ER II Military Nursing medal
A nice example of a Queen Elizabeth II Period medal of the Royal Red Cross,2nd class. Holders of this award are known as associates (Associate Royal Red Cross).The second class award was introduced in November 1915.Originally only awarded to female members of the Military services, it has only been awarded to men since 1976.
The medal is an enamelled silver Maltese cross with a central figure of the reigning monarch, in this case Queen Elizabeth II .The reverse bears Faith,Hope and Charity and 1883(the year it was instigated) on each of the four arms.The royal cypher is in the centre.This is suspended from the red and blue silk bow ribbon fixing.In very good condition.
