Royal Victoria Infirmary,Newcastle on Tyne. Nurses Silver 1911 Coronation commemorative Medal
A rare silver commemorative medal awarded to nurses at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle on Tyne to celebrate the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary on June 23rd 1911.This one of approximately 126 such medals which were presented to the nursing staff at the Infirmary by a generous benefactor at the time of the coronation.The St Cuthbert cross is of plain silver and is engraved on the arms with a Royal Crown and G R M with 1911 to the centre.The rear is engraved Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle -on-Tyne and the initials EH for the recipient.Hallmarks for R&S Birmingham 1910.A loop at the top is for a ribbon or chord suspension.Height 51mm
